Overtime Goal Downs Cougars

LAKEWOOD, CO – The Cougars hosted CSU Pueblo for the final home game of the season. In a back and forth game the ThunderWolves pulled away in overtime for the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Both teams were firing on offense early with both sides having seven shots in the first half. The Cougars had the first real scoring chance as Saige Stock had two shots on goal within the first ten minutes of the game. The Cougars ended the first half with four shots on goal but Nicole Genis stayed strong in goal for CSU Pueblo and the Cougars could not get on the scoreboard.

The battle continued in the second half as the defense led the way, with the two teams combining for only six shots in the second period. Tied in at the end of regulation the two teams headed into the first overtime period. The ThunderWolves had the first chance at a real attack and made the most of it, scoring the game winning goal in the 97th minute.

COUGAR LEADERS: Saige Stock had four shots with two being on goal. Alaina Kregel had three shots with two shots on goal as well. Kiana Fen also had a shot on goal for the Cougars.

In net Ashleigh Maguire started the game and had one save in the first half. Ireland VanDyke played the second half and the overtime period and had one save.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

  • The Cougars had five shots on goal compared to four for CSU Pueblo.
