MSU Denver Open Series with DH Sweep

LAKEWOOD, CO – Looking to increase their likelihood of making the RMAC Tournament for the first time in school history, Colorado Christian couldn't find a winning formula.

MSU Denver took both games of a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon as the teams began their four-game conference set at All Star Park.

Game One – MSU Denver 11, Colorado Christian 0

The MSU Denver offense scored at least one run in five of the game's seven innings en route to the victory. Meanwhile Roadrunner starting pitcher Logan Stoole allowed three hits in his five innings of work as he improved to 4-0.

Colorado Christian put nine runners on base paths however, they were stymied by the Roadrunner hurlers as they tried to move along the base paths.

Game Two – MSU Denver 11, Colorado Christian 5

What started well for the home team became unraveled in the fifth inning.

With MSU Denver holding a 2-1 edge after the top of the second, Jordan Medina gave the Cougars their first lead. The designated hitter's two-run double that allowed Eli Ludwig and Manny Thompson to cross the plate gave the home team a 3-2 lead.

After the Roadrunners took a 4-3 advantage in the third inning, Colorado Christian responded when Medina smashed an opposite field two-run homerun in the fourth frame to retake the lead at 5-4. However, MSU Denver pieced six runs on three hits, three walks and a hit by pitch in rough top of the fifth inning. The Roadrunners completed their scoring with a single run in the sixth inning.

Medina put together a 3-for-4 effort at the plate as he fell a triple short of the cycle. He drove-in all but one of his team's runs. Blake Mattey went 2-for-4 at the top of the line-up to aid in the offensive effort.

UP NEXT: The teams continue their RMAC series with a nine-inning contest on Friday at 4 p.m.
