Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Stephen Hinkel

Undefeated After Home Opening Win

LAKEWOOD, CO – Two goals in the opening half was enough.

The Colorado Christian men's soccer team scored twice in the first period as they registered a 2-1 victory against Adams State in a non-conference game.

With the home opening victory, the Cougars move to 3-0 for the second straight season while also claiming their home opener for consecutive seasons.

HOW IT HAPPENED: In the 13th minute Silas Hess found the back of the cage with a beautifully placed shot from the left side of the field. The sophomore placed a looping ball over the Adams State goalkeeper in the far side upper 90 from a shot just outside the goalkeeper's box. Newcomer Lucca Casci assisted on the net-finder.

Adams State tied the scored less than five minutes later when Josh Garcia stole the ball and fired a shot into the back of the cage with a blast from 20 yards.

The game winner came from Liam Lakey in the 32nd minute when he located a wonderful shot from the right side of the field into the far side post after a pass from Adrian Diez.

As the game unfolded the Cougars applied pressure during the early portions of the second frame but Logan Rabasca made a handful of solid saves to keep the Grizzles in the contest.

Midway through second half Adams State nearly tied the game when a free kick bounced around the box and hit off the right goal post but was cleared away by the Cougars defense to knock down the threat.
