GOLDEN, CO – Looking to build on their first day momentum at the Oredigger Classic, the Colorado Christian women's volleyball team feel short during the last day at the event hosted by Colorado School of Mines.
The Cougars feel in their two matches against Northern Sun Conference opponents.
Southwest Minnesota State 3, Colorado Christian 0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-22)
Perineal national powerhouse, Southwest Minnesota State played steady in the first two set then held off a Cougars rally in the final frame to nab the victory.
In the opening two sets, the Cougars had a tough time finding their rythem as they hit -.038 and .062 respectively to open the match. However, in the final stanza Colorado Christian played the Mustang tough. The matches only lead change and tie score came in the third set. The frame was knotted at 22-22 but the Mustangs closed out the match with three straight points.
Kylar Raymond had a team high eight kills while fellow sophomore Alli Douglass added six kills.
Sioux Falls 3, Colorado Christian 1 (22-25, 19-25, 15-25, 17-25)
The Cougars came out swinging as they tallied a .345 hitting percentage in securing the opening game. However, the Cougars from South Dakota used their offense to grab the victory.
In the second and third sets, Sioux Falls hit .355 and .375 to take control of the contest. They also chilled the Colorado Christian offense after that first set. The fourth set saw Sioux Falls creep ahead and never look back to seal the triumph.
Libby Goodman had a team high 15 kills to pace the Colorado Christian offense.
Among the specialty positions, Izzy Jones had 33 assists with Madelyn Long registering a team high 13 digs online the backline.
