Colorado Christian Sustains Setback at Colorado Mesa

GRAND JUNCTION, CO- The Cougars traveled from Salt Lake City to Grand Junction to take on Colorado Mesa on Saturday. The first half remained close throughout, but the Mavericks pulled away for a win in the second frame.

HOW IT HAPPENED- DJ McDonald scored the first basket of the game with a jumper under a minute into the game. McDonald continued the hot shooting with a three, and Ross Williams joined in with a three of his own. Williams and McDonald continued a barrage from deep, hitting three more shots from beyond the arc.

Jason Gallant then hit a three, followed by yet another trey from McDonald. Christian Bento converted a layup and a late three from Williams put the Cougars down just six heading to halftime.

Andy Stafford quickly closed the gap with a three-point play to start the second half. The Mavericks offense began to find their stride in the second half, but Williams kept things close with a layup and free throw. A layup from Stafford at the midway point of the half made the score 70-55 Colorado Mesa heading to the final ten minutes.
