LAKEWOOD, CO- The Cougars returned home to the CCU Event Center the day after Thanksgiving to take on Westcliff University, seeking a third straight victory. They did just that, fighting off a tough Warriors team for the 68-60 win on Friday evening.
After a 27 point night in an exhibition victory against Division 1 Northern Colorado, Jason Gallant again led his team with 21 points, five assists and three steals. DJ McDonald followed with 14 points and a pair of assists.Â
Christian Bento was strong all evening on the boards, pulling down 11 rebounds, while Shaylen Woodberry had nine boards overall. Noah Kon supplied three assists for his team as he facilitated and impacted the game throughout.Â
CCU posted 22 points in the paint, while their bench poured in 17 points. Westcliff led early on, but a tight game ensued from there with the Cougars chipping away until they eventually took the lead with 3:51 to go in the first half. The second half was filled with many runs, but Colorado Christian salted the game away late for the 68-60 win.Â
The Cougars play again on November 26 at home against Kansas Wesleyan at 5 p.m. MST.
