COLORADO SPRINGS, CO- After a hard loss to the Thunderwolves last night, the Cougars set to battle against the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in their home territory. In order to secure a spot in the RMAC Tournament, UCCS needed a win on their senior night. UCCS held their ground and took the Cougars with a sweep.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED- UCCS started the set with aces and kills bringing them to a 7-3 lead. CCU battled back to 7-6 with errors from UCCS and a kill by Emmy Overson. Despite several errors from UCCS, the Cougars were unable to hang on to the Mountain Lions and their lead continued to grow. UCCS took the set 25-18.
CCU started strong with a 6-4 lead over UCCS with kills from Libby Goodman and Alli Douglass. The Mountain Lions refused to go down and went on a five point streak on the back of CCU errors bringing the score to 6-9. In a strong comeback attempt with a kill from Goodman, the Cougars lost a solid fight in the second set ending 25-17.
After two losses to the Mountain Lions, the Cougars were determined to stop the streak. Starting out strong, Abby Newell led CCU with several kills to a 13-10 lead. After exchanging blows, Alli Douglass brought the game to 19 a piece. A long run from UCCS ended the game 25-20 with a Mountain Lion set and match win.

UP NEXT- Colorado Christian closed regular season play against UCCS finishing 6th in the conference while UCCS finished 7th. The Cougars will play Colorado Mesa in the first round of the RMAC Tournament.
