ALLENDALE, MI- Track and Field traveled to Michigan over the weekend to take part in the Big Meet hosted by Grand Valley State University. The Cougars saw many strong performances and NCAA Provisional Qualifying times in a successful trip north.
WOMEN'S RECAP
Michelle Kuipers got the first day started in excellent fashion in the 800m, finishing 5th out of 73 runners in the event with a time of 2:10.46. This time is an NCAA Provisional Qualifying time and puts Kuipers 8th on the NCAA DII National Performance List. Shannon King kept her impressive season going in the 1 mile run, posting another provisional qualifying time of 4:55.71 to take home 12th in the event. Callie Ketner placed third in her heat in the 5000m with a time of 18:03.88.
The women's distance medley relay team of Paige Tack, Michelle Kuipers, Benisa Ellis and Shannon King placed 4th out of 22 teams competing with a time of 11:46.02. This places them at 14th on the NCAA DII National Performance List. Hannah George broke her own school record in the 60m, posting a new personal best time of 7.84 seconds to finish fourth in the event.
MEN'S RECAP
Tyler Bradley got the men's Friday started with a 22.68 in the 200m. Aidan Day posted a time of 1:55.41 in the 800m, and Jeremy Miller placed 14th out of 73 athletes in the mile. Miller's time of 4:09.14 is a personal best and is an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Time. Josh Pierantoni shined in the 3000m, finishing 3rd among collegiate athletes competing with a time of 8:09.50. This is another provisional qualifying time for Pierantoni and he is now 13th on the NCAA DII National Performance List. Isaac Russo posted a provisional qualifying time as well, finishing 12th with a time of 8:17.83. Jaxon Hinch placed 7th in the high jump with a mark of 1.95m.
UP NEXT- The Cougars will return to Colorado to compete in the Air Force Open on February 18.
