Hillcats Take Two

CLAREMORE, OK – Returning to Oklahoma for the second weekend in a row, the Colorado Christian Cougars faced the Rogers State Hillcats on Saturday to begin their four-game series. RSU took both games of day one.

GAME ONE – The Hillcats took the first game in seven innings with a final score of 3-0, after scoring two runs in the third and one in the fifth.

Luke Thompson, Eli Ludwig, and Jordan Medina all had a single hit in the game.

Tyler Fischer tallied 7 strikeouts in his five innings on the mound.

GAME TWO – The RSU bats were on fire in the second game of the day, scoring 18 runs to the Cougars 2 in the nine-inning game.
The first run for CCU came in the first inning, as Wyatt Crenshaw hit a homerun. The Hillcats responded in the bottom of the inning with 5 runs to take the lead.

The next few innings were scoreless for both teams, but the Cougars broke the streak in the top of the fifth with their second and last run of the game. The bases were loaded as Boedy Flores, Jeff Sanchez, and Eli Ludwig all walked. Crenshaw then got an RBI as he reached first on an error to bring home Flores.
RSU responded yet again in the bottom of the inning, scoring 4 more runs to make the lead 7.

Colorado Christian came close to making it home again in the sixth and ninth but the Hillcats defense stayed strong despite having runners in scoring position. Rogers State tacked on 9 more runs to make the final deficit 16.

Wyatt Crenshaw, Jordan Medina, Aaron Morgan, Cole Douglass, Caden Walton, Saxton Sorenson, and Zach Medina all had a hit in game two.
