Cougars on the Run: RMAC Championship Recap

In one of the best Track and Field conferences in the nation, the Cougars were well represented at the RMAC Indoor Conference Championships hosted in Gunnison, CO on Friday and Saturday.
 
One of the top events for the team over the weekend was the Men's Mile. Three Cougars finished in the top seven for the event led by Isaac Russo with a time of 4:20.06 to finish fourth overall. Jeremy Miller (4:20.99) and Hudson Majeski (4:22.06) finished sixth and seventh respectively. Chase Bracher also ran an impressive time of 4:27.42. Head coach Jon Poag said, "We had many strong performances this weekend, but our Men's milers ran especially well. Of our four men competing each ran a significant personal best."
 
In the 3000M, Josh Pierantoni finished fourth overall with a time of 8:37.38. Jaxon Hinch competed in the high jump and was able to clear a height of 6'2.75".
 
Hannah George ran in the 60M and finished with a time of 7.84. In the 800M, CCU had two athletes racing in Michelle Kuipers and Benisa Ellis. Kuipers finished with a time of 2:20.92, and Ellis was right behind her with a time of 2:21.68. Colorado Christian was well represented in the distance events with Shannon King who ran a time of 5:17.51 in the Mile, Paige Tack finished in the top 10 in the 3000M with a time of 10:23.24, and Callie Ketner ran the 5000M in 19:45.39. The talented Distance Medley team consisting of Paige Tack, Benisa Ellis, Michelle Kuipers and Shannon King continued their impressive indoor season as they placed in the top five overall in the event with a stellar time of 12:21.94. Ashley Vil also represented CCU as she participated in the Triple Jump.
 
It has been a great indoor season for the Cougars as many individual school records were broken throughout the season. Coach Poag on the RMAC Championship performance from his team stated, "The team showed a lot of determination this weekend and I think they should be proud of their efforts."
 
After a brief break from competition the outdoor season will begin on March 18th-19th with a meet in Pueblo, CO.
