Colorado Christian Loses Tight Game in Denver

DENVER, CO- Colorado Christian hit the road to take on Metropolitan State University Denver on Tuesday night. The Cougars battled closely throughout, but the Roadrunners took the narrow seven point victory in the end 75-68.

HOW IT HAPPENED- The Roadrunners got off to a hot start, scoring the first ten points of the contest. DJ McDonald stopped the surge with a jumper, and a Ross Williams jumper and McDonald three-pointer got the Cougars offense going. Jason Gallant got a layup and three to start an excellent night as his team trailed 21-14 with 9:30 till half.

Another Gallant layup and a three ball from Isaiah Alonzo cut the Metro lead to nine, but the Roadrunners offense began to churn out the points and stretch the lead to 15. Five straight points from Gallant and another McDonald three made the lead just six at the break.

Shaylen Woodberry and Alonzo hit back-to-back threes to begin the second half to cut the lad down to two. McDonald and Woodberry kept the barrage from deep going, and an Alonzo layup with 12:16 to go tied the game at 56.

Andy Stafford began to take over with consecutive jumpers as the lead stood at just one, and a Williams three made it a tie game again with 4:30 remaining in regulation. A seven point run from Metro gave them some breathing room. Nic Ziel got several layups to go, but the Roadrunners were able to hold on for the win 75-68.
