Cougars Sweep Doubleheader at Chadron State

CHADRON, NE- Colorado Christian took on Chadron State Sunday in the second doubleheader in as many days. The Cougars rolled once again, winning 10-0 and 7-2 to come home with four more victories and a 9-1 RMAC record.

GAME ONE
The game was well in hand before Chadron State even got an at bat in their half of the first inning. Colorado Christian got right to work in their first at bats, starting with an RBI from Taylor Olsen. Piper Lujan singled up the middle to tack on another run, and Miki Berg doubled to make it 3-0. Samaria Roope then singled to score two more as the Cougars jumped ahead 5-0 after one inning.

Kayla Middleton broke things wide open in the third, cranking a three-run homer to put her team ahead 8-0. Sydney Reamer picked up an RBI single later in the inning to make it 9-0. Roope blasted a solo homer in the fourth to score her teams' final run as Colorado Christian went on to win 10-0 via run rule.

Alexis Hamilton fanned three batters through four scoreless innings and just one hit allowed and Roope closed it out in the fifth with three outs to pick up the save.

GAME TWO
The offense took a little longer to get going in the second contest, but Sydney Reamer put her squad up 2-0 with a double in the third. The Eagles responded with two runs to tie it in the third, but the lead did not last long. Taylor Olsen singled home a run in the fifth and the sixth as Colorado Christian opened up a 5-2 lead.

Kayla Middleton blasted her second homer of the day in an impressive display of power to bring home two more in the seventh, and the Cougars closed out a 7-2 victory for a 4-0 weekend in Nebraska.

Abrie Castillo pitched four innings, striking out five batters. Alexis Hamilton closed out the game with three hitless innings pitched and two strikeouts.
