Cougars Extend Win Streak to Seven vs. Black Hills State

LAKEWOOD,CO- Colorado Christian returned home after two series on the road for a  doubleheader on Saturday against Black Hills State. The Cougars won a pitchers duel 3-2 in game one and broke open game two for a run-rule 11-2 victory.

GAME ONE
Alexis Hamilton took the mound for game one and found herself in a duel with the Yellowjackets' Crystal Amaral. Both teams loaded the bases in the first inning, but Hamilton was able to get out of the jam. The Cougars scratched across a run when Miki Berg was hit by a pitch to score Kenzie Middleton. The two pitchers continued to battle till another Colorado Christian run came home on a Kayla Middleton double to score Ellie Sather.

Black Hills State tied the game in the top of the fifth on a two run-blast as things tightened down the stretch. Sydney Reamer responded with a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth to put the Cougars up 3-2. Hamilton finished the job from there, pitching seven complete innings to pick up her eighth win of the year. She finished with seven strikeouts on four hits and just two runs allowed.

GAME TWO
Piper Lujan got the scoring started in the second contest with a solo home run to left centerfield. Kenzie Middleton smacked a ground rule double to pick up an RBI and make it 2-0 in the second. Black Hills State brought the deficit to one with a solo shot in the fourth, but Taylor Olsen answered right back with a solo shot of her own the next inning to make it 3-1.

Logan Menzies continued the scoring with a solo homer in the fifth as the Cougars started to break the game open. Heading to the bottom of the sixth Colorado Christian led 4-2, and then the floodgates opened for the Cougars offense.

Kayla Middleton singled home two runs with the bases loaded, and Lujan continued an excellent game with a three run blast to put her team up 9-2.
