The Cougars began a four-game series with the Colorado School of Mines on Friday afternoon. It was a battle between the two conference opponents but at the end Mines came out on top by a final score of 13-8.

CCU struck first in the game as they came up with two runs in the third inning to take the early lead.
Wyatt Crenshaw doubled off the top of the center field wall with two outs to score Frankie Shearn who had singled earlier in the inning.
Russell Cruz followed Crenshaw with another two out hit to score the Cougars second run of the inning.

After Mines tied the game with two runs in their half of the third inning CCU once again regained the lead in the fourth inning.
Jordan Medina began the inning with a leadoff triple and came around to score when
Caden Walton notched an infield single.

The School of Mines used the middle innings to seize control in the game. They scored three runs in the fourth inning, and two more runs in each the fifth and sixth innings to take a commanding 9-3 lead. CCU was able to score one in the eighth inning thanks to a
Luke Thompson RBI double, but Mines once again stepped on the gas pedal in the bottom of the eighth by scoring four runs to take a 13-4 lead heading into the final inning.

Major Maydon got the CCU comeback attempt going as he collected an RBI single which scored
Caden Walton who had singled to begin the inning. The hit and RBI were the first ones for Maydon as the Freshman begins his collegiate career.
Cole Douglass remained perfect as a pinch hitter on the year as he hit a single to right center field.
Wyatt Crenshaw once again doubled which scored Maydon and Douglass.
Jordan Medina capped off the Cougar scoring on the day with an RBI single. Despite the valiant effort in the final inning, Colorado Christian falls in the series opener by a final score of 13-8.

CCU now has a 6-15 overall record and are 4-5 in conference play. The Cougs will be back in action on Saturday for a doubleheader against Mines in Golden, CO. First pitch for game one will be at 12PM MST.
