Colorado Christian opened the weekend in style as they utilized strong pitching to earn the 8-2 victory over Metro State University.
Harrison Nation was brilliant on the mound hurling six strong innings allowing just one run earning his second victory of the season.

After retiring the Roadrunners in order to begin the game, the Cougars jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Cole Douglass led off the inning and drew a walk to get on base. Douglass later came around to score the first run of the game thanks to a
Jordan Medina double deep to centerfield. Metro State evened the score 1-1 in the second inning.

The game remained tied until CCU came to bat in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Major Maydon delivered the go-ahead RBI as he singled back up the middle to score
Luke Thompson and give the Cougars the lead, a lead that they would hold onto for the remainder of the game.

Luke Thompson added to the Cougar lead as he doubled in the fifth inning to score
Wyatt Crenshaw who had doubled earlier in the inning. Two more runs came home thanks to a
Caden Walton single which scored
Jordan Medina and
Luke Thompson as the score was now 5-1 after five innings of play.

Colorado Christian continued to keep the pressure on as they scored two more runs in the sixth inning, and one more in the seventh to take a commanding 8-1 lead heading into the final two innings of play. Metro managed to score one run in the eighth inning, but that was it as the Cougars won to open the weekend series by a final score of 8-2.

Jordan Medina finished the game 3-5 with one run and one RBI.
Caden Walton and
Major Maydon both finished the game with two hits each.
Harrison Nation continued his dominance on the mound so far this season as he went six innings allowing just three hits, one run and struck out six batters.

The victory improves their record to 8-17 overall, and 6-7 in conference play. CCU will continue the pod games in Pueblo, CO on Saturday as they play two games. First, they will take on CSU Pueblo starting at 12PM MST. Then they will take on Metro State at 3:30PM MST.
