DENVER, CO- The Cougars traveled to nearby Regis University for a doubleheader to begin April play. Colorado Christian relied on strong pitching and effective offense to win both games 5-1 and 5-2.
GAME ONE
The Cougars began a big series against Regis with strong offense, jumping ahead early in the first. Sami Edwards walked and Sydney Reamer singled to start their days. Taylor Olsen then came up and drove them home with a two RBI single.Â
Neither team scored till the top of the fourth when the Cougars tacked on some insurance. Logan Menzies ripped a two-run blast to make it 4-0 and Edwards ripped an RBI double to take the lead to 5-0. A run in the fourth for the Rangers was not enough as Colorado Christian closed out an impressive 5-1 victory.Â
Alexis Hamilton continued to shine with her 12th win of the year, picking up 10 strikeouts on just five hits and one run allowed.Â
GAME TWO
Once again it was Colorado Christian who struck first in game two, as Logan Menzies ripped her second two-run shot of the day in the top of the second inning. Taylor Olsen picked up an RBI double in the third, and Piper Lujan singled Olsen home to make the lead 4-0.
Kayla Middleton added an insurance run in the fifth, ripping a triple to left centerfield to score Lujan and make it 5-0. Regis brought the game to within three runs with a pair scored in the sixth, but again it was not enough as the Cougars closed out the 5-2 win.Â
