Offensive Explosion Stretches Cougars Win Streak to 19

DENVER,CO- Colorado Christian finished their four-game series at Regis with a doubleheader on Sunday. The Cougars bats could not be tamed as they run-ruled the Rangers twice, 13-5 and 14-5 to push their win streak to 19.

GAME ONE
Sami Edwards started the Cougars off right with a solo blast to center field in the first inning. Regis came back with a pair of runs to take the lead through one inning. The Rangers tacked on a third run in the second but then the bats came to life for Colorado Christian.

Edwards picked up her second RBI of the game when she singled home Kenzie Middleton to bring the deficit to one. Taylor Olsen doubled home the tying run before Kayla Middleton gave her team the lead with a sacrifice fly. Logan Menzies continued an incredible weekend by blasting her third home of the weekend. The three-run shot gave the Cougars a 7-3 lead. 

Olsen doubled to bring home another run in the fourth, and Lujan ripped a two-run homer to make it 10-3. Kayla Middleton continued the home run party with a solo blast as the Cougars ran away with the game, taking the run-rule victory by a score of 13-5. 

Alexis Hamilton picked up her team leading 13th win of the year with the complete game victory.

GAME TWO
The Rangers struck first in the second contest, plating two early runs to take the lead. Piper Lujan responded with a solo blast, then Miki Berg torched a three-run shot to make it 4-2. Sydney Reamer picked up an RBI double to give her team the 5-2 lead.

Lujan led off with her second homer in as many innings to begin the third as the lead grew to 6-2. Regis scratched another run across, but Taylor Olsen smacked a two RBI single in the fourth to make it 8-3. 

The offense put the game fully away in the fifth, starting with a two RBI double from Kenzie Middleton. Olsen picked up another RBI with a single and Lujan blasted her third homer of the game, a three-run shot to leave no doubt the outcome. The Cougars finished off their second straight run-rule victory by a score of 14-5.

Abrie Castillo snagged her 12th win of the year with four complete innings pitched before Sydney Rawlings came in to close out the final inning. 


UP NEXT- Colorado Christian will return home April 9 for a doubleheader starting at 9 a.m. against Colorado School of Mines.
