Colorado Christian Keeps Rolling with Doubleheader Sweep of Mines

LAKEWOOD, CO- The Cougars looked to stay atop the RMAC standings with a doubleheader at home against Colorado School of Mines on Saturday. The record-setting squad kept their momentum going, taking a pair of wins 9-1 and 4-0 to improve their win streak to 21. 

GAME ONE
Sami Edwards got the offense going immediately, cranking a solo homer in the first. Piper Lujan jacked a solo shot of her own in the second to make it 2-0. Reigning POTW Logan Menzies picked up an RBI double in the fourth before the Orediggers scratched across a run in the fifth as it stood at 3-1.

The homers continued in the fifth for the Cougars, as Miki Berg and Kenzie Middleton slammed back-to-back solo homers to make it 5-1. Lujan cranked a two-run blast to push her team ahead 7-1 heading to the sixth. Edwards picked up an RBI sacrifice fly in the sixth before Sydney Reamer finished the game with an RBI single that capped the 9-1 victory. 

Alexis Hamilton continued to dominate, snagging her 14th win of the season with six strikeouts on six hits and only one run allowed.

GAME TWO
Kenzie Middleton led off the game in the leadoff position with a solo shot as the offense once again started early. Taylor Olsen picked up an RBI with a ground rule double to score Reamer, and Lujan singled home Olsen to make it 3-0. Olsen provided an insurance run with a solo blast in the fifth as the Cougars closed out a shutout win 4-0.

Abrie Castillo dazzled on the mound, winning her 13th game of the year on two strikeouts, five hits and no runs allowed. 


UP NEXT- Colorado Christian will continue play with another doubleheader at home against Mines on April 9 with the first contest starting at 2 p.m.
