Thursday marked the beginning of the 2022 soccer season for the men's CCU team as they traveled down to Bethany, OK to begin their season. Their season got underway at 4PM MST on Thursday 8/25/22. Facing off against Dallas Baptist University, the Cougars battled throughout the game, but at the end, neither team was able to get one past the opponent's goaltender as the game finished in a 0-0 tie.
 
It was a close game from the opening whistle where each team fought for position and tried to gain a handle on the momentum. It was a very close game to open the season as DBU managed 10 shots, and CCU took 11 shots. Goalkeeper Michel Pinoncely faced 10 shots while the Cougars took 11 shots but neither keeper allowed a goal. Both defenses played a huge role in the draw today, which opened both of their seasons.
 
Head Coach Brad Camp spoke after the game saying, "It was a tough battle today. We were really happy with our boys and the way they were determined not to concede a goal. I think from the coaching side, I need to be a little bit better to help the boys in possession more. I was really pleased with how many guys we played. We are a very deep team, and we had more guys on the bench that didn't even get in that I think are very high-quality players so it was really fun to see how many players got into this game and played well. It's a promising sign for our future."
 
The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday August 27^th when they will square off against Southwest Baptist University. Game time is scheduled for 6:30PM MST.
