It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Lakewood, CO where CCU took to the field to take on Newman University. The Cougars controlled possession throughout much of the game, however a stingy Jets defense didn't allow any goals as the game finished in a 0-0 draw.
Â
Colorado Christian was on the attack early and often in the first half, but were unable to break away and put one in the back of the net. The Cougs outshot the Jets 7-1, but their best scoring chance came with just a few seconds left in the half. With less than 15 seconds left in the half, the ball went out of bounds behind the goal which gave CCU a corner kick. With the clock still running, the Cougs alertly grabbed the ball and raced to the corner, then sent the ball sailing into the box.
Grant Roloff gained possession and sent a shot towards the goal with just a few seconds left on the clock. The ball evaded the goalkeeper, but a defender was able to dive and just kick the ball away and keep CCU from breaking the scoreless tie.
Â
The second half was much of the same as the Cougars continued to control the possession and keep the ball on the Jets side of the field looking to take control of the game. CCU outshot Newman 9-1 in the second half, but some solid defensive play kept the game tied. Overall, Colorado Christian outshot Newman 16-2 in the game, but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.

After the game, Head coach
Brad Camp spoke saying, "Today was really disappointing. We are doing some really good things out there, but we have been doing some bad things as well. We just have to keep fighting the good fight to try and get better"
