Colorado Christian Sweep Griffins in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, UT- The Cougars headed to Utah on Friday to take on Westminster College in their fifth RMAC competition of the year. A convincing effort led Colorado Christian to a sweep over the Griffins as they improved to 4-1 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED- The score stood at ten apiece midway through the first set, but then the Cougars made a run. A kill from Savannah Overson led a four-point run as she helped her team take a 14-11 lead. Abigail Newell slammed home a kill for a 18-13 lead as the Cougars took control of the set, and they closed it out 25-18 for the early lead.

The Griffins came out strong in set two, taking a 12-6 advantage quickly. A slew of Westminster errors helped Colorado Christian get back into the set, and a late seven point run helped by consecutive aces from Megan Piton made it 22-18. Lilly Woods put down a kill for set point and Jessa Rose finished things with an ace 25-20.

Things went back and forth to start the third set as Libby Goodman put down a kill for a 13-12 lead. Goodman continued with several more kills to put her team ahead 19-14. A missed serve made it set point, and Goodman finished the sweep with a kill for the 25-21 set win.
