LAKEWOOD, CO- Colorado Christian competed under the lights against the Orediggers from Colorado School of Mines on Wednesday night. In a tough battle pitting the conferences' two best teams, the Cougars fell 4-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED- The action started quickly as Miguel Fonseca fired the games first shot a little over a minute into competition. The shot resulted in a corner kick that AJ Gamueda got a shot off of but was unable to connect. Max Collingwood then got into the action with a save in goal for his team before a trio more shots did not find the back of the net from the Orediggers. After a deflection on the initial shot, Mines got on the board with a goal in the 26th minute of action. Things were physical all night as each team saw a yellow card shown their way before halftime came with CSM leading 1-0.
The Orediggers came out pressuring offensively to start the second period, and they were rewarded with a goal in the 51st minute to stretch the lead to 2-0. After Gabe Roloff and Arthur Santana missed the frame, Eli Donaho forced a save from the CSM keeper with a nice looking shot. The physicality continued as the teams traded fouls and substituted frequently throughout the second half. Mines put it away late, scoring in the 80th and 85th as they claimed the road win by a final score of 4-0.
