Colorado Christian men's soccer traveled to downtown Denver on Friday afternoon as they took on Metro State University. Despite a tough battle, Metro was able to score an early goal in the first half and held on to defeat the Cougars by a final score of 1-0.
 
In the fourth minute, Metro took advantage of a great pass into the box which they were able to put in the back of the net and take the early lead. From that point on, the CCU defense clamped down and gave their offense the opportunity to get back into the game. Metro outshot the Cougars 3-1 in the first half in what turned out to be a defensive battle.
 
Shortly after the start of the second half, adverse weather played havoc on the game as a nearby lightning strike sent the game into a weather delay. The Cougs used the break to try and centralize their offensive attack and even the score once the game resumed. CCU outshot the Roadrunners 5-2 in the second half, but despite their increased attack on goal, they were unable to score the equalizing goal and eventually fell by a 1-0 final score.
 
With the loss, the Cougars record now sits at 6-4-2 overall and 2-2 in conference play. They will be back in action next week on Thursday October 6^th when they will be taking on Regis University on the road.
