DURANGO, CO- The Cougars traveled south to take on Fort Lewis on Thursday as the RMAC regular season winds down. In a hard fought battle, it was an early second half goal from the Skyhawks that ended up being the difference in a 1-0 defeat for Colorado Christian.
Alaina Kregel started off the offense with a shot that missed high early on. Then it was Fort Lewis who got off a shot, but keeper Alana Lopp stepped up for the save. Skylee Deladurantaye tallied a shot in the 30th, but saw it go wide right. Lopp then made another save before Deladurantaye missed high to close the half as the teams went to the break scoreless.
The Skyhawks started strong in the second half as they broke through for a goal in the 50th minute. FLC kept the offensive pressure up and forced Lopp to make several more saves. In the end, the Cougars best efforts were not quite enough as they fell by a final score of 1-0.
Colorado Christian plays next at Western Colorado on October 29 with kickoff slated for 1 p.m. MST.
