Cougars Annihilate Oklahoma Panhandle State for Third Straight Win

LAKEWOOD, CO- Colorado Christian closed their three game homestand with a matchup against Oklahoma Panhandle State University on Saturday night. Led by four double digit scorers, the Cougars dominated the Aggies for a blowout 94-61 victory to close non-conference play.

Noah Kon got the scoring started, and CCU never trailed from there. Bradley Land and Kon hit jumpers, while CJ Barnes converted a layup to stretch the lead early to 8-0. Brenden Patrick and Michael Bell Jr. got in on the scoring, and Kon drilled a three to make it 15-1 in a hurry. A three-point play from Bell sent his team ahead 20-5, and the score stood at 22-9 midway through the half.

Bobby McWard connected from downtown to continue the scoring barrage, and later Nic Zeil was sent to the line several times and went 4-4 to send his team into the break leading 42-22.

Jacob Everson started the second half scoring with a jumper, and he followed that with a three-pointer to cap a great sequence for the graduate student. Bell buried a three, and a three-point play from Tanner Hecht saw the advantage grow to an insurmountable score of 58-31. A Zeil layup saw the hosts take a 71-36 lead into the final 10 minutes of play as the game was comfortably in hand.

With just under nine minutes to play, Kon electrified the crowd as he took a fastbreak pass from Tate Odvody and tomahawk slammed it home in an impressive display of athleticism to punctuate the victory. Hecht put the icing on the cake with back-to-back threes as the Cougars closed a dominant 94-61 win.

Kon and Hecht led the offense with 15 points, while Bell and Patrick chipped in 13 and 10 respectively. Kon led in rebounds with seven, while Schafer Reichart dished out a strong four assists to lead his team.
