LAKEWOOD, CO- Colorado Christian opened their 2023 campaign on Friday with a home matchup against St. Cloud State University at Trailblazer Stadium. The Cougars had several looks that nearly found the back of the net, but in the end the two teams played to a 0-0 draw. 

Caiden Dixon got off an early shot that went wide right, and Gabe Roloff narrowly missed on a pair of attempts minutes later. Adrian Diez then put a shot on goal, but the Huskies keeper collected it for a save. In the 22nd minute, the best chance came for the Cougars. A beautiful through ball made it past the back line of the defense for Lucca Casci to run onto, and his shot slipped past the keeper but ricocheted off the right post and glanced out. CCU got off one more shot before the half, but the two teams went to break tied at 0. 

In the second period, Roloff and Casci kept the pressure up with some good looks, but they could not find the back of the net. Dixon then put a shot on target, but again the Huskies keeper was up to the task. Dylan Hall got off the last look of the game, but SCSU saved it and the teams ended with a 0-0 draw. 

The Cougars now hit the road for a matchup on September 7 at Newman University in Kansas at 6 p.m. MST.
