CCU Earn Draw in Neutral Site Match with Saint Martin's University

MONMOUTH, OR- The Cougars headed to Oregon to take on Saint Martin's University on Thursday for a neutral site matchup at Western Oregon. The two teams battled for 90 minutes, and in the end the match ended in a 0-0 draw as Colorado Christian remained unbeaten on the season. 

The Saints pressured early, but keeper Michel Pinoncely was up for the task with a save. Adrien Diez took a shot thirteen minutes in but could not find the target. In the 20th minute, Dumisani Luthayi was able to put a shot on frame, but the SMU goalie made the save. Devin Najarro forced another save with a shot as CCU intensified the offense. Pinoncely picked up one more save before the break as it stood scoreless at half. 

The two teams fought to breakthrough in the second half, as Shane Donnelly and Matthew Beaulieu took a pair of shots. Later, Beaulieu put a shot on goal that was saved by the Saints keeper. As the game drew near its' end, Pinoncely made one more save as he made it four clean sheets in a row in the eventual final score of 0-0. 

In total, Pinoncely made four saves on the night as he kept the Saints off the board. CCU took 12 shots with three being on goal. 

The Cougars will remain in the Pacific Northwest as they take on Western Oregon University on September 16 at 1 p.m. MST.
