Colorado Christian Drop Tight Matchup with UCCS

LAKEWOOD, CO- The Cougars hosted UCCS on Thursday afternoon at Trailblazer Stadium for their third conference game of the season. CCU held a talented Mountain Lions team scoreless until the 80th minute in a hard fought 1-0 defeat.

Colorado Christian pressured early as Zoe Sims got a shot on goal off in the first minute of play that forced a save. UCCS responded with a shot of their own that was saved by Alana Lopp. Lopp made several more saves as the Mountain Lions intensified their pressure but the teams went to the half scoreless on a hot day in Lakewood.

UCCS continued to put the pressure on the Cougars offensively, as they forced the fourth and fifth save of the game from Lopp who remained resolute in between the posts. However, in the 79th minute of play UCCS broke through with a goal from close range to break the tie and jump ahead with a little over 10 minutes of play remaining. From there, UCCS did their best to control possession and thwart a Cougars attack. Allie Hotz got off one last shot on goal, but UCCS made the save and took the match by a final score of 1-0.

Lopp was strong in goal, making five saves during the match. CCU had three shots with two being on goal.

The Cougars will be back in action at home on October 1 as they take on CSU Pueblo at 1 p.m. MST.
