DURANGO, CO- The Cougars closed their roadtrip south with a matchup at #12 Fort Lewis on Saturday night. CCU hung with the Skyhawks for a large portion of the game, but in the end ultimately fell by a final score of 94-62.
Colorado Christian got off to a roaring start, scoring the first seven points of the game on a Jacob Everson jumper, three-pointer from Nic Zeil and a Bradley Land jumper. The Skyhawks rallied back to take a slim lead, but an Everson three put CCU back ahead 13-11. Schafer Reichart hit a jumper to put his team ahead 17-15 midway through the half.
Shaylen Woodberry connected on a jumper as the Cougars took a 21-17 lead, but a long run from the Skyhawks put them up eight. The teams battled back and forth till the break, with Fort Lewis leading 43-31.
CJ Barnes opened the half with a pair of free throws, but FLC was able to pull ahead by 18 midway through the second period.
CCU fought and closed the half well, finding some offensive rhythm on a three-pointer from Michael Bell Jr. and a pair of threes from Everson. The two teams battled to the end with FLC taking a 94-62 victory.
Everson paced the offense with 14 points, followed by Land with 12. Zeil was strong with 7 points and 7 rebounds while Bell Jr. chipped in 7 as well.
The Cougars head closer to home next weekend as they take on Regis in Denver on January 26 at 7 p.m. MST.
