GOLDEN, CO- The Cougars sent four runners to the Mines Winter Classic on Friday and Saturday, and the talented foursome did not disappoint with some strong results. Shannon King took part in the 3000m on Friday, while Hudson Majeski, Trent Cochran and Alex Vance ran the mile on Saturday.
King kicked things off Friday evening as she faced a talented field in the 3k. Shannon impressed with a time of 10:02.12 to claim second in the race with 13 runners going. She took down nine conference foes on her way to a strong result in a race she already has an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Time in.
Majeski, Cochran and Vance followed on Saturday afternoon in the highly competitive mile. Cochran and Majeski jumped to the front of the pack and remained there throughout. Majeski kicked hard on the final lap, claiming fifth with a time of 4:16.20. Cochran closely followed with a sixth place finish with a run of 4:17.65. Vance closed with a 4:23.88 as the Cougars showed they are a team to be reckoned with in the mile. Both Majeski and Cochran earned NCAA Provisional Qualifying Times for their efforts as they look poised for a spot at Nationals.
CCU now heads out of state to Topeka, Kansas to compete in the Washburn Open February 2-3 as they look to continue their momentum they have been gaining over the first five meets of the season.
