Colorado Christian Narrowly Fall at CSU Pueblo

PUEBLO, CO- The Cougars headed south to take on CSU Pueblo on Sunday as they continued RMAC play. An early goal from the Thunderwolves was the difference in a defensive battle from both teams that resulted in a close 1-0 defeat for CCU.

The hosts got off to a strong start as they struck a little over five minutes into the game to take the early 1-0 advantage. Capri Dewing responded moments later with a shot on goal, but the CSUP keeper made the stop. The offense continued to push as Ashleigh Willette fired a strike on goal that was saved again. Alana Lopp made a pair of strong saves late in the half to keep the deficit at just one, and the last chance of half came from Taylor Tobolkski as she fired a shot towards the top of the goal that was saved to end the half at 1-0 in favor of the hosts.

Justine Moreau got the second half started with an early shot on goal, but yet again the Thunderwolves keeper was up to the task for the save. The Cougars battled hard and used a number of substitutes to try and keep the legs fresh and find a breakthrough, but the CSU Pueblo defense remained resolute and stopped each attack. With less than a minute left, Moreau took the final shot of the game, but it was saved one more time as the final whistle blew on a 1-0 loss for the Cougars.

Colorado Christian is back in action at home on October October 11 as they host Colorado Mesa at 11 a.m. MST.
