LAKEWOOD, CO- Colorado Christian continued play at home on Saturday afternoon as they took on Black Hills State inside the CCU Event Center. The Yellowjackets came out hot in the first half and did not slow down en route to handing CCU an 85-56 setback.
Bobby McWard started quickly with a nice jumper to score the first points of the game, but from there the visitors went on a 21-0 run to take control.
Ezra Guest broke the streak with a three-pointer, but CCU found themselves down 29-5 midway through the half.Â
Nathaniel Law hit a jumper and three, and
Bradley Land began to get going with a jumper and pair of layups. He continued with a three to cut the gap to 17 while
Promise Idiaru slammed home a dunk. As the halftime buzzer sounded, BHSU led 44-25.Â
Land continued to play well with a layup, and
CJ Barnes swished back-to-back jumpers to cut the deficit to 15. Unfortunately, that was as close as things would get as the offense for Black Hills State continued to play at a high level and stretched the lead to 65-41 midway through the second half.Â
Law and Land converted a pair of layups while
Jacob Everson connected from midrange.
Jayson Demcher converted a layup, and he closed the scoring for the game with another layup as the visitors claimed an 85-56 victory.Â
Land led with 18 points on the day, and Everson and Land led with 4 rebounds apiece.Â
The Cougars will be back at home for a non-conference matchup with New Mexico Highlands on December 19 at 7 p.m. MST.Â
