GOLDEN, CO- The Cougars began Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play on Saturday as they took on Mines in a doubleheader at Jim Darden Field in Golden. The Orediggers proved too much on this day, claiming both contests by scores of 14-2 and 12-1.
GAME ONE
CCU struck first in game one, as
Luke Thompson singled home
Kade Carney for an early 1-0 lead. Mines struck back for a pair in the first followed by three in the second for a 5-1 lead. They snagged a 7-1 lead heading into the fourth as the Cougars needed to respond.
Jonny Tewinkle drew a run back in the fourth, smacking a double to score
Major Maydon who had singled to lead off the inning. The home team went on a tear from there, pulling away to claim a 14-2 victory.
GAME TWO
Once again it was CCU that got on the board first in the second contest, plating
