DALLAS, TX- The Cougars opened the 2025-26 campaign on Friday evening in Dallas as they took on St. Edwards. After a competitive start to the game, the Hilltoppers pulled away to deal CCU an 80-52 setback.
Zachary Reed started the game with a three-pointer for the first points of the season, and
Joshua Reid quickly got a layup to go.
Porter Bazil and
Andrew Reichart then got jumpers to fall and a Reid layup made it 24-22 SEU. St. Edwards went on to close the half strong, going on a scoring run to take a 44-28 lead to the break.
Reed scored early in the second half, but the lead continued to grow for the Hilltoppers. Porter put in a layup and jumper, and
Pierce Bazil connected from downtown, but in the end it was not enough in the 80-52 defeat.
Reid paced the offense with 11 points, while Reichart and both the Bazil brothers scored eight apiece. Four Cougars logged two assists, and Reed had a pair of steals.
CCU will close play in Texas with a matchup with #3 Dallas Baptist on November 15 at 2 p.m MST.
