LAKEWOOD, CO- The Cougars hosted their final home game of the season on Sunday afternoon as they faced off with Westminster. The team honored their nine seniors after the match that ended in a 2-0 setback against the Griffins.
The game started fast as a hard takedown near midfield resulted in a Griffins defender being shown a straight red. Forced to play a man down the rest of the contest, WU was not deterred as they scored in the 19th minute to go ahead 1-0.
Lucas Peruzo had a go a few moments later but did not find his target. The two teams would battle to the half with the score remaining 1-0 in favor of the visitors.
The Griffins tacked on a second goal early in the second half off a corner as the lead doubled at 2-0.
Tiago Gomes had a look with his dangerous left foot, but it sailed high to keep the score the same.
Salvador Fernandes also had a shot miss and
Cole Foresman could not connect late as the final whistle blew on the 2-0 result.
After the game, nine seniors were honored that included

AJ Gamueda,
Lucas Peruzo,
Dylan Hall,
Cole Foresman and
Avery Hipps.
The Cougars will close their year with a road contest at nearby MSU Denver under the lights at 6 p.m. MST.
