GUNNISON, CO- Colorado Christian continued their roadtrip on Sunday to take on Western Colorado in Gunnison. The Cougars equalized after a first half goal from the hosts, but a goal late in the second half gave the Mountaineers a 2-1 victory. 

Justine Moreau and Noelle Mingo came out firing as they recorded early shots to pressure WCU, but in the 36th the Mountaineers broke through to take a 1-0 lead. The lead stayed put until the halftime break. 

The Cougars responded quickly in the second half, as CCU earned a corner kick and tried to score off the set piece. Kira Merrell got her head on the ball and sent it towards the goal, but the keeper deflected it away. Battling for the loose ball, Faith Gaudy was taken down inside the box and a penalty was given. Moreau stepped up to take it and blasted it into the top right corner to level the game at 1-1. Western Colorado took the lead back in the 70th, and CCU could not break through in an eventual 2-1 defeat. 

The Cougars will close their season at MSU Denver on November 5 at 3:30 p.m. MST.
