Cougars Stay Steady in Victory Over WCU

LAKEWOOD, CO – Breaking a losing streak with a fun win, the Cougars took the game over the Western Colorado University Mountaineers with a final score of 69-61.

It was a strong start for CCU, forcing a timeout from Western after a string of momentum building plays to put the Cougars ahead by 13. The Mountaineers were able to fire back and tied up the game with 7 minutes left at 23 a-piece. At the end of the half, the Colorado Christian had the edge by just 2 points at 29-27.

Although it got close a couple times, the Cougars were able to maintain their lead throughout the rest of the game. The second half saw the teams trading momentum swings, and both teams getting into the bonus with plenty of time left. Western Colorado hit a few clutch shots beyond the arc near the end to try to get back in the game, but the Cougars remained resilient and smart despite the pressure of the fast paced game.

CCU took the win by 8, and was lead on the offensive end by Bradley land who led both teams with 27 points. Also in the double digits was Tate Odvody with 16, and Shaylen Woodberry with 11. Promise Idiaru brought down 10 boards to lead both teams in rebounding.

Up next the Cougars will travel to face Chadron State and South Dakota Mines before hosting again on Tuesday, February 11th with an 8pm start time against Colorado State University Pueblo.
