Boulder, CO- The Cougars competed against some top teams Saturday afternoon at the CU Invitational in Boulder.
The men started off strong with
Matthew Storer leading the team with the highest finish of 10th in the 3000m. Storer came in just behind some strong Division I Air Force and Colorado State runners, keeping himself in the top 25 within the Region with a time of 8:25.53. Teammate
Sean McCauley came in next at 8:41.64 with a 19th place finish.
Jeremy Miller and
Tate Fletcher competed in the mile and posted times of 4:20.66 and 4:28.11 consecutively.
Shannon King led the women's team with the second highest finish taking 8th place in the mile running a 5:01.14. King's time in the mile has her within the top 25 in the Region so far.
Ava Maginity and
Brooke Connolly raced in the mile as well.
With seven athletes entered in the women's 3000m,
Rachel Harpt came in first for the Cougars running a time of 11.10.82. She was followed by
Kaylie Bookout,
Madison Burkholder,
Nora Thompson,
Maleah Wardlaw,
Sarah Hamlin, and
Kara Krulick.
Ashley Vil dominated the women's triple jump claiming first place with a jump of 11.26m; one of her furthest jumps this season so far. Vil continues to stay in the top of the Region with her consistent triple jump marks.
In the 400m,
Tara Smoker came in with strong results as she took 13th place running a time of 58.37 just shy of her personal best. On the men's side,
Jathan Rentfrow competed as well.

Golden, CO- At the Mines Winter Classic and Multi,
Elana Sutton competed in the women's pentathlon totaling 2,368 points for 4th place and a personal best high score. The pentathlon includes five events which are the 60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and the 800m.
Next up, the Cougars travel to Boston and Kansas to compete in two meets including the David Hemery Valentine Invitational and the Ichabod Invitational on February 14th and 15th.
