Rapid City, South Dakota – The three meet week saw a busy one for the Cougars, each meet seeing records fall and new PR's. The Cougars saw three strong meets as they continue to build momentum going into the conference championships next week.
The Wednesday meet at South Dakota was kicked off by
Hannah Zugich, taking on the 400H. Already one of the strongest hurdlers the Cougars have seen, Zugich would find another gear, getting out smooth and closing extremely hard for a final time of 1:07.22. Not only a PR, this serves as the 2
nd fastest 400H in Cougars history, Zugich finding her stride at the perfect time before the conference championships. Zugich sits 15
th on the RMAC list, eagerly awaiting her chance to make a statement next week in Pueblo.
Brooke Frisk in her second meet ever for the Cougars would make more history, competing strong in the high jump alongside teammate
Elana Sutton. Both would manage to jump the mark of 4'11.75, Frisk finishing second amongst the High Jump field. This serves as the 2
nd highest jump in Cougars history, with Sutton holding the current school record. Sutton and Frisk will take on the HJ at the RMAC Championships next week as they look to continue to jump higher and higher.
Azusa, CA – The Cougars would see more records fall from none other than
Janelle DeBoer, breaking yet another school record and her own 200 school record. DeBoer would open up in the 200 at Bryan Clay, flying to a 24.54 mark, managing to break her own school record by .28
th of a second. The highlight of the week would come in her 400, towing the line in an extremely fast heat. The race would get out strong, DeBoer flying out the blocks in a 26 second 200. Deboer would hang on, closing in a 30 for a victory and final time of 56.53. The serves as the school record, indoor or outdoor in the women's 400 meter, yet another record shattered by
Janelle DeBoer.
DeBoer will have her pick when it comes to this weeks outdoor championships, qualifying in 4 different events. DeBoer sits 3
rd on the RMAC list in the 400, 7
th in the 200, 16

Along with DeBoer,
Ella Brinkman seems to only know how to make history every time she touches the track. Brinkman took on the Triple Jump at Bryan Clay, shattering the outdoor Triple Jump record. Brinkman would jump 38'6.25", breaking the school record by an astounding 5 inches. Now the school record holder in both indoor and outdoor, Brinkman sits
2nd on the RMAC list in the Triple Jump. Going into RMAC Championships, Brinkman will look to not only podium, but bring home an individual title in the Triple Jump. Brinkman also sits 9
th on the Long Jump RMAC last, looking to complete one of the strongest freshman debuts the Cougars have ever seen.
Kate Miller would take on the 800 meter race, spinning the legs in the extremely fast paced half-mile. Miller would get out strong, remaining near the front for the first 200 meters. Antsy, the field would move up, recycling Miller towards the back coming through the bell lap. Determined and patient, Miller would wait for the last 150 meters, flying out to lane 3 and closing powerfully for a 4
th place finish and final time of 2:14.93. Her speed on display, Miller's 800 is the third fastest 800 in Cougars history. Miller currently sits 12
th on the RMAC list, looking to compete strong and make the finals in the competitive 800 RMAC Championships race.
Sophia Graber, the true freshman, would have an excellent meet herself, breaking out in both the 800 and 1500m. Graber would manage a 2:18.49 800, followed by a 4:44.45 1500, both PR's and extremely impressive times from the young freshman. Leaving herself in an excellent position, Graber sits 24
th on the RMAC list in the 800, looking for the Outdoor Championships to bring her to new speeds in the grueling race.
The week would be closed out by Aly Wagner, having a strong day in the 5k. The gun would go off, the field going out extremely hot, Wagner electing to hang onto the middle front pack. As time progressed and the field naturally slowed, Wagner would make a move, desperately hanging on and passing several girls before crossing the final lap. A strong finish would see Wagner come across the line in 17:33, a PR and 4
th fastest outdoor 5k in CCU history.
Despite the strong day in the 5k, both Wagner and Daugherty will look to the RMAC 10k, sitting 19
th and 20
th on the list. The longest race available, the two girls will gear up to make their name amongst the strong distance conference.
RMAC Outdoor Championships are set for April 25
th-26
th, the Cougars looking to finish out one of the most historical seasons to date. Located in Pueblo, CO, the Cougars will make the drive to compete in the familiar Thunderbowl.
