LAKEWOOD, CO- The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced their Academic All-America Teams for Track & Field and Cross Country, and after maintaining a perfect GPA throughout the year,
Shannon King has earned herself a spot on the First Team to close her career with one final impressive accolade.
King was fantastic both on the cross country course and track as well as in the classroom this year. With a 4.0 GPA in her undergraduate studies in Psychology and now a 4.0 as she earns her Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Shannon was an excellent example of what it means to be a student-athlete who competes with excellence and balances her time to achieve great success in her studies.
King adds a third All-American honor to the from this year alone as she took home the honors for her performance at the Cross Country National Championships and the Indoor Track & Field National Championships. Her highlight came in the mile at the Indoor Nationals where she shattered her own school record and ran a personal best time of 4:43.14 to place fourth overall in the country amongst the nations' elite runners. In total this marks the fifth All-America honor of King's illustrious career at CCU as she set the standard very high for all those who come after her.
