DALLAS, TX- The Cougars headed down to Texas on Thursday as they began a two-game road trip in the Lone Star State with a matchup under the lights at Dallas Baptist. After the teams played to a 0-0 draw at halftime, an early second half goal was the decider for the Patriots in a 1-0 setback for CCU. 

Giovanni Carneiro got off an early shot that was saved in the third minute, and keeper Owen Sutherland made several saves to keep the hosts at bay. The two teams battled and it was a defensive struggle the majority of the first half as neither team allowed much of a look as 45 minutes came to a close with the score still 0-0. 

A little over three minutes into the second half, DBU broke through with a goal to send them ahead 1-0. The Cougars fought for an equalizer, getting off many different looks, but the final shot on goal from Dylan Hall in the 89th was saved as the home team held on for a 1-0 victory. 

Sutherland was strong in goal with six saves that included a penalty save in the 86th. 

CCU will now get ready for their matchup at UT Tyler at 12 p.m. MST on September 13.
