TYLER, TX- The Cougars continued play in the Lone Star State on Saturday with a matchup at UT Tyler. After a scoreless first half, a miscue on a clearance led to the lone goal of the game as the Patriots narrowly won 1-0.
UT Tyler got the first few shots off as
Beckett Pomeroy made several saves.
Tate Bledsoe got off a late shot on goal, but it was saved as a defensive slugfest reached halftime at 0-0.
The Cougars ratcheted up the offensive pressure to begin the second half as
Bodie Curtis, Giovannia Carneiro and
Tiago Gomes all had shots that just missed. In the 51st, the hosts capitalized on a failed clearance near the goal to tap in for the 1-0 advantage. The 59th nearly saw an equalizer, but the shot from
Lucas Peruzo hit the right post and bounced out. Peruzo had another look on goal moments later that was saved. The defenses set in from there, and the final whistle blew on a 1-0 setback for CCU.
Colorado Christian plays next at Oklahoma Panhandle State on September 18 at 6 p.m. MST.
