GOODWELL, OK- Colorado Christian hit the road again on Thursday as they took on Oklahoma Panhandle State. A second half goal from the Aggies proved the difference in a 1-0 setback for the Cougars.
Lucas Peruzo and
Jacob James got shots on goal off early that were saved, and
Salvador Fernandes had a shot saved later in the half. The teams battled back and forth but were unable to break a scoreless tie as halftime arrived with the score at 0-0.
The Aggies got off a plethora of shots early in the half that
Owen Sutherland was up to the task for with several saves. A header from James was saved, and
Tiago Gomes saw his shot saved as well moments later. OPSU broke the tie in the 69th minute as they struck with a goal to make it 1-0.
Ben Brown had a header saved, and a late shot from Peruzo missed high as the final whistle blew with the hosts coming out on top 1-0.
The Cougars will head back to the Lone Star State as they take on West Texas A&M on September 20 at 12 p.m. MST.
