LAKEWOOD, CO- Colorado Christian played their first game at Trailblazer Stadium on Sunday as they hosted the UT Dallas Comets. In a very evenly matched affair, a first half goal from the visitors held up in a 1-0 setback for the Cougars.
Justine Moreau brought the pressure offensively early on, getting off a flurry of shots, with the first barely hitting off the woodwork and caroming out. The Comets began to get off more shots as well, but none were on target and
Mia Mares was there to make the save regardless. With a little over five minutes to play in the first half, UTD constructed a strong play and crossed into the middle for a waiting striker to shoot it far post for the 1-0 lead. The teams went to the break with CCU down just 1-0.
The Cougars battled to get shots off in the second half, but a stingy Comets defense limited them well. The defense continued to hold the visitors from scoring any more goals, but in the end CCU could not break through in an eventual 1-0 defeat.
Colorado Christian will now take a road trip to the Golden State to take on California State University Dominguez Hills on September 18 at 8 p.m. MST.
