CARSON, CA- The Cougars headed West to California on Thursday as they took on Cal State Dominguez Hills. A scoreless first half ensued, but a late goal from the Toros in the final seven minutes of play gave the hosts a 1-0 victory.
CSUDH threatened early with a shot on goal, but keeper
Mia Mares made the save on a shot on goal.
Justine Moreau took an early shot, and
Breenalyn Shimabukuro had a shot saved. Mares made more strong saves, and a
Taylor Tobolski shot late in the half was saved as the teams went to halftime level at 0-0.
A flurry of early shots from the Toros went high, and the teams battled late into the contest. CSUDH broke through late, scoring in the 83rd minute to take a 1-0 lead. CCU battled but could not equalize as they ultimately fell 1-0.
CCU will continue play in California at Vanguard University on September 20 at 12 p.m. MST.
