Four Cougars Named to D2CCA All-Region Team

LAKEWOOD, CO- The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) announced their All-Region teams on Monday, and four Cougars were named to the First and Second Team for their excellent play this season. 

Leah Garcia earned First Team All-Region honors after her best season yet in year four with the Cougars. The senior from Amarillo was tremendous both at the plate and in her first collegiate year as a full time catcher. Garcia hit .396 while collecting 58 RBI with 9 homers, 2 triples, 1 doubles and 78 hits with 57 runs scored. With an OPS of 1.087 and a slugging percentage of .645, Leah was pivotal hitting in the 5-hole for her team. Doing the catching in all 62 games this season for CCU, Garcia was phenomenal with 293 catches, 251 putouts, 35 assists and 9 runners caught stealing for a fielding percentage of .976. Garcia has been a leader at the core of her team the last four years, and she has been recognized for her tremendous efforts this season. 

Arriana Wright transferred into Colorado Christian for her senior season and has been outstanding for the Cougars. Playing at first base, the senior from Texas has been incredible with 400 putouts, 15 assists and no errors for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. With her powerful bat she has blasted 19 homers with 5 triples and 15 doubles for a team high 85 RBI. Hitting for an average of .403, an OPS of 1.306 and a slugging percentage of .821, Wright has been pivotal to her teams' historic success this season and has earned First Team honors as a result. 
 
Kat Hanson
 

Kat Hanson has been named Second Team All-Region after an incredible season for the sophomore from Arizona. Hanson has earned an impressive .468 batting average, a 1.277 OPS, a .775 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .502. With 70 runs scored in 222 at-bats, Kat has tallied 104 hits, 21 doubles, 4 triples and 13 homers for 66 RBI. Her fielding at second base has been solid as well with 117 putouts, 114 assists and just eight errors for a .967 fielding percentage. Hanson has been lights out all season and has been there for her team all season when they needed her most. 
 
Felesha LePenske


Felesha LePenske earned Second Team All-Region honors for her efforts in the circle as she has been the ace for the Cougars all year. Holding an outstanding record of 23-2, LePenske has an ERA of 2.92 with a WHIP of 1.18. The sophomore from California has struck out 108 batters through 151.0 innings pitched with an opposing batting average of .258. With 14 complete games and a pair of shutouts, Felesha has only walked 26 batters and has faced 589 batters. Earning a team high in victories, Felesha has been excellent all season for the Cougars.
