LAKEWOOD, CO- Colorado Christian Athletics is thrilled to announce the hiring of Kenzie Liberty as the next Head Coach of the softball program. Liberty starred on the softball team for four years at Colorado Christian followed by two years as an assistant coach under veteran coach Larry Hays before becoming the programs' 4th head coach. 

Kenzie was a two-time All-American while at Colorado Christian and holds a plethora of all-time offensive records as she was one of the best to ever don a CCU jersey for the softball program. She knows exactly what it takes to succeed at CCU, something she has honed the past two years as an assistant coach and has quickly ascended as one of the best coaches in the RMAC. 

Coach Liberty spoke on the opportunity to lead a team she once played for, saying "I am excited to be the next head coach at Colorado Christian. Continuing to coach at the University you played at is extremely special and an opportunity I am humbled to receive." 

Kenzie will be taking over a program that has been the most dominant team in the RMAC for the past six seasons, and the standard set by players like herself will not change. 

"The expectation to go deep in the postseason remains the same, and the route to get back will be through hard work, having fun and keeping God at the center of the highs and lows," Liberty said.  

Larry Hays and his son Shanon both coached the Cougars and built a legacy of excellence and honoring God, something Liberty will look to grow even more in the coming years. 

"This University is special in the fact that we get to compete for the Lord and use our platform of softball to glorify God. I'm grateful to be in a leadership role where I can exemplify the Christian values Coach Hays demonstrated before me. I am ready to continue what the Hays family built and take the program to new heights," said Kenzie. 

Athletic Director Jon Poag is confident in Coach Liberty's abilities to take the team to the new heights, saying "I am excited to see Coach Liberty step into this role, no one knows the team and its aspirations better. Kenzie's work ethic and dedication to the student athlete experience is second to none and I am looking forward to what is to come!
