LAKEWOOD, CO- The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced their All-Conference teams on Wednesday, and
Gregory Rangel was named to the First Team while
Brady Ritzmann earned Second Team honors following their excellent seasons.
Rangel's sophomore campaign was a tremendous one as he led his team in a number of offensive categories and was a steady presence in left field. With a stellar batting average of .378, an OPS of 1.102, a slugging percentage of .677 and an on-base percentage of .425, Greg was a force at the plate all year. Over the course of 45 games, Rangel compiled 62 hits, scored 38 runs, tallied 12 RBI, 2 triples and a team high 11 homers with 43 RBI. Holding down left field all season, Rangel had 81 catches, 78 putouts, 2 assists and just one error for an excellent fielding percentage of .988. It was a season to remember for the sophomore as an incredibly bright future is ahead of the California native.
Ritzmann closed his final season at CCU in stellar fashion as he was a starter to be counted on to turn in a quality outing each time he took the bump. The righty from Arvada started 12 games for his team, turning in a trio of victories including two complete games. With a WHIP of 1.75, 57.2 innings pitched and 33 strikeouts, Brady was a reliable starter that turned in numerous gutsy performances to put his team in the best position to win. In the final start of his collegiate career, Brady turned in a vintage performance, going 6.1 innings with 4 strikeouts on 95 pitches thrown to get one last win as a Cougar. It was the perfect close to a stellar career for #5, and he has been honored for his efforts this season.
