Pueblo, CO - The Cougars battled through a scoreless first half Thursday night before #21 CSU Pueblo found the back of the net twice in the second half, handing the Cougars a 2-0 loss at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.
A non-conference matchup against the ThunderWolves, CCU established themselves defensively early, no shot recorded on either side until the 25 minute mark.
Jackson Schroeder would open up with the first shot of the night, followed by a Ben Brown shot later in the half, neither able to find the back of the net.
CCU and CSU-Pueblo would head into the break tied 0-0, with
Campbell Wolfgram making a pair of saves in the opening 45 minutes to keep the ThunderWolves off the scoreboard.
The ThunderWolves would break through in the 64th minute when Nick Cenek found the back of the net to give CSU Pueblo a 1-0 advantage. Just over two minutes later, Cenek would strike again, extending the lead to 2-0.
The Cougars would continue to battle in the final 20 minutes, with
Dallas Roberts recording a shot in the 75th minute. CCU would finish the night with five total shots, including two on goal, while Wolfgram finished with two saves.
Colorado Christian wraps up the week back at home on Sunday, hosting Colorado Mesa, kickoff set for 1:30pm at Trailblazer Stadium. Now 1-2-4, the match up against Mesa will be the last match up before conference play begins.
