Â
Ryan Erazo got the start in game one as he looked to set the tone early on the day. Providence was able to string a few hits together in the first inning off of Erazo, and scored two early runs to take a brief lead. CCU answered in the bottom half of the first inning with three runs of their own.

Branden Amenta followed that up later in the inning with an RBI single of his own, which gave the Cougars a 3-2 lead after one inning of play. Erazo settled in after the first and pounded the strike zone throughout the game. He retired the next ten hitters he faced, and did not allow another hit until the sixth inning. He came close to throwing a complete game, but Providence got to him in the seventh inning which forced coach
Gregg Mucerino to call in his closer
Mike Marlar. Marlar finished the game off to earn his third save of the season and give the Cougars their third win by a final score of 9-6.

From that point on it was all CCU as they scored two runs in the fourth and followed that up with six runs in the fifth inning to take the 9-4 lead.
